Who is Steve

I am proud to have served 18 years and 11 months in the Colorado Army National Guard, with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Even while deployed overseas, I remained fully engaged in my duties as a school board director (2018–2023), faithfully serving the Englewood community from abroad.

During my term on the Englewood School Board, I:

  • Championed the OAI Proclamation, ensuring equity, opportunity, and inclusion remained at the heart of district priorities.
  • Helped set clear legislative priorities to advocate for Englewood’s needs at the state level.
  • Contributed to developing the district’s strategic plan, shaping a roadmap for long-term student success.
  • Navigated the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, balancing safety, learning, and community needs.

Beyond my public service, I am a husband of 22 years and father of four amazing boys. My family is neurodiverse, which gives me a personal understanding of the challenges and opportunities within education, particularly around supporting students with unique needs.

I also hold a B.A. in Business Leadership, which complements my experience as a small business owner, where I’ve built a company around creativity, service, and accountability.

These experiences—military, family, business, and public service—have shaped me into a leader who understands vision and responsibility.
