Thank you for visiting my campaign page! My name is Steve Leflar, and I’m running for the Englewood School Board. I believe every child in Englewood schools deserves the opportunity to thrive in a supportive, safe, and innovative learning environment. I am committed to making a positive impact on this district
Ensure every child in Englewood schools, regardless of background or ability, has access to the tools and support they need to learn and grow. Strengthen programs for students with special needs and unique learning styles. Focus on fundamentals—literacy, math, and critical thinking—while supporting arts, trades, and innovation.
Demand responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars to ensure that Englewood schools can keep resources in the classroom rather than wasting them on bureaucracy. Provide clear, open communication with families and staff. Make data-driven decisions that prioritize students—not politics—first, focusing on true student advocacy.
In Englewood schools, creating environments where students feel safe, supported, and valued is essential. We must prioritize mental health and counseling resources. We can effectively address challenges and enhance student advocacy by partnering with parents, teachers, and the community.

I’m running because our children deserve strong advocates who put students first. With my proven service record on the Englewood School Board (2018–2023), I’ve already helped guide the district through some of its most challenging moments. Now, I want to continue that work and build on our progress.
I bring nearly 19 years of military leadership, real-world business experience, and 4 years of prior service as an Englewood School Board director. I helped lead during the pandemic, advanced the completion of the OAI Proclamation, shaped our legislative priorities, and contributed to the district’s strategic plan. I even served on the board from overseas while deployed to Iraq—because I believe commitment means showing up, no matter the circumstances.
I will champion both academic excellence and social-emotional well-being by ensuring the responsible use of resources, prioritizing student outcomes, and supporting teachers with the tools they need to succeed.
You can volunteer, spread the word, and most importantly, vote! Your voice and story matter—together we can continue to strengthen Englewood schools.
